🌞 Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal. They do well near an east- or north-facing window.
Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
If using grow lights, aim for 12–14 hours of light per day.
💧 Water
Keep soil consistently moist, but not soggy.
Use room-temperature water to avoid leaf spotting.
Water from the bottom (fill a saucer and let the plant soak it up) or be very careful not to wet the leaves.
Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Ideal temp: 18–24°C (65–75°F).
Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature drops.
Enjoys moderate humidity—if your home is dry, a humidity tray can help.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a light, well-draining African violet mix or make your own with peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite.
Pot in small containers—they bloom better when slightly root-bound.
Repot every 6–12 months to refresh soil and encourage healthy roots.
🌸 Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer (like 20-20-20 or one labeled for African violets) every 2–4 weeks.
Too much fertilizer can cause salt build-up and leaf burn—flush the soil occasionally.
🍃 General Tips
Remove spent blooms and yellow leaves regularly.
Rotate the pot weekly for even growth.
Watch for pests like mealybugs, thrips, or mites.
